Press briefings become theater.
Legislation becomes marketing.
Even failure gets rebranded as resistance or sabotage —
whatever keeps the plot alive.
Over time, the incentives invert.
It’s safer to stage outrage than to solve a problem quietly.
Theatrics become a career skill;
honesty becomes a liability.
And every act of dysfunction becomes content for the next one.
The performance feeds the coverage,
the coverage feeds the fundraising,
and the fundraising feeds more performance.
That’s the feedback loop —
a structure that runs on its own dysfunction.
It looks busy, it sounds alive,
but it’s slowly starving the work it was built to do.
